Abstract

In this article, the position of Hegel's philosophy against Kant's philosophy will be discussed mainly through the criticisms brought by Hegel to Kant. As a result of this evaluation, it will be argued that the view that Hegel ignores the basic motivations of transcendental philosophy or the argumentation behind the results of this philosophy is not a valid argument. Therefore, it is not possible to consider Hegel as a pre-critical dogmatic metaphysician who ignores the important consequences of Kant’s transcendental philosophy. Although the ultimate justification of Hegel's basic criticism of Kant's philosophy depends on Hegel's success in grounding his own philosophical conclusions, it will be argued that these criticisms point to some of the basic problems inherent in Kantian philosophy.
